The Faculty of English proudly announces a guest lecture by Prof. Magdalena Charzyńska-Wójcik (KUL): The Dactyloscopy of Medieval Translations
Wydarzenie, rozpoczyna się 11-04-2016

The Department of Translation Studies of the Faculty of English invites all interested parties to a guest lecture by Prof. Magdalena Charzyńska-Wójcik, Head of the Department of the History of English and Translation Studies at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin: The Dactyloscopy of Medieval Translations. The lecture will take place on Monday, April 11, at 11:30 in room C1, Collegium Novum.

The objective of the lecture is to challenge the notion of the invisibility of the translator. Translators leave behind so many indelible traces that an examination of the strategies they apply can identify their ambitions, hopes and fears with the accuracy of modern dactyloscopy. The available evidence is ample enough to enable us to expose several-hundred-year-old misattributions, and get a glimpse of a medieval translation-training classroom. It is all there - in the translation technique; it only needs to be seen.
